<Insights> Advanced Aesthetic Injectables for the Treatment of Buccal and Lateral Cheek Hollow
IFAAS faculty, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr Moon Seop Choi, South Korea shares his insights on Advanced Aesthetic Injectables: Treatment of Buccal and Lateral Cheek Hollowness, separate treatment plan between Western and Eastern Methods.
Did you know that Caucasian and Asian demands different injection designs for the treatment of mid cheek, buccal cheek and lateral cheek hollowness, and this is due to the location difference between their apple cheeks?
Buccal and Lateral Cheek Hollowness: Injection Entry Point for Superficial Injection:
- Inferior to buccal and submalar area for superficial fat injection
Buccal and Lateral Cheek Hollowness Injection Technique:
- Retrograde horizontal fanning
- Perlane 0.7cc for superficial fat injection: 27G cannula or nano needle
- Restylane lidocaine 0/3-0.5c each area for subdermal injection to smooth out the surface
Buccal and Lateral Cheek Hollowness Injection Entry Point for Deep Injection:
- 4cm anterior to tragal line and 2cm below from lower margin of the zygomatic arch for deeper injection (subSMAS layer)
- Cross of the line from the mouth commissure to tragus and the vertical line of lateral orbital rim for subSMAS layer or buccal fat pad
Mid-Cheek Grove Injection Entry Point:
- Lateral portion to groove requiring volume
- Lower portion of mid-cheek groove around the vertical line of the lateral orbital rim and horizontal line of mid-alar groove
Mid-Cheek Groove Injection Technique
- Lateral threading and layering technique after undermining, if required
- Perlane or SbuQ 0.7-1cc for each area of mid-cheek hollowness/ mid-cheek grooveness: using 27G or 23G cannula or needle
- Restylane lidocaine 0.3-0.5cc each area for subdermal injection to smooth out the surface
